Special Offer and Competition

Monday, July 27th, 2009

special_smileblogHi everyone,

Welcome to the SmileBlog! The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that the logos are missing on some pages and that the comments aren’t activated. That’s what happens when you send your administrator on vacation and forget to ask him for the password before he leaves. As soon as Ben is back, the site will be prettier and you’ll be able to let me know what’s on your mind.

If you want to win SmileBooks t-shirts, i’ll be giving away one each to the first 25 readers who can correctly answer the following question:

How many smilies are on the Team & Topics button?

Send your name, address & t-shirt size to info@us.smilebooks.com by midnight PST on the 14th August 2009. Please enter SmileBlog in the subject line.

The t-shirts are pale blue and are similar to the polo shirt that Todd is wearing on the SmileBooks Online web site. I’m having them custom made so they will take a couple of weeks to get to you.

If you’d like a 30% discount off my favourite format, the Panorama SmileBook (Panorama Professional, Panorama on silver halide paper or Panorama on digital print paper), then enter the coupon code SMILEBLOG30  when placing an order from now till Midnight PST on the 16th August 2009.

Kerstin – SmileBooks Graphic Design

smileblog_lightbox_team_kerstin

Kerstin left the team earlier this year but we’ll always consider her the SmileBooks Mamma. It was Kerstin who designed the key visuals, created our style guide and gave SmileBooks it’s distinctive look. We’ll never stray too far from her concept because she’s always looking at the site and checking up on us. Kerstin’s catch phrase of “That’s ugly!” is sorely missed around here, as is she.

Making scrapbook photo corners (Online)

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

smileblog_tips_lightbox_photocorners_online You can use our range of cliparts to add scrapbooking elements to your online SmileBooks too. I like to make my own photo corners and have found an easy way to do it and make sure all the cliparts are the same size:

Select the clipart you wish to use for your photo corners. Drag the clipart onto the page, 4 per image, as you‘ll need one for each corner. Scale one of the cliparts to size.

Once you have the correct size, click on the Next clipart and scale it to approximately the same size. Move it so that it‘s on top of the first clipart and scale it till they are exactly the Same size. Continue doing this for all the cliparts on the page.

Place the cliparts at each corner of the image and rotate them into the correct Position.
